Terms & Conditions

1. About Runaway Club 

Drifter Runaway Club is the loyalty programme offered by Drifter Hospitality Group Pty Ltd (Drifter, we, our or us) and powered by AKIN Travel Pty Ltd (AKIN). 

Runaway Club provides members with access to benefits, rewards and offers at participating Drifter properties. Current programme information, including membership tiers, qualification requirements and available benefits, is published on the Drifter Runaway Club page. 

By joining Runaway Club, you will also become a member of the AKIN Travel Loyalty Program and agree to the applicable AKIN Membership Terms & Conditions and AKIN Privacy Policy. 

Runaway Club membership requires an underlying AKIN membership. The underlying technology, membership administration, tier calculations, data storage and customer support functions are provided and operated by AKIN.  

All bookings and stays at Drifter properties remain subject to the Drifter Terms & Conditions. 

2. Joining Runaway Club 

Membership is free to join. 

To participate, you must: 

  • be at least 18 years old; 
  • hold a valid email address; 
  • sign up to Runaway Club online; 
  • create or confirm your AKIN member profile; 
  • provide accurate and current information; and 
  • accept the Runaway Club terms and the applicable AKIN terms and privacy policies presented during registration. 

Membership is available to individuals only. Corporate entities and organisations cannot become members. 

Membership is personal to you and cannot be transferred to another person. 

You can join and manage your membership through the Runaway Club member platform. 

3. Membership Tiers 

Runaway Club includes membership tiers that recognise eligible activity and provide access to different member benefits. 

Current tier structures, qualification requirements and benefits are published on the Drifter Runaway Club page, and may be updated from time to time in accordance with section 14. 

Runaway Club is powered by AKIN, and your membership also provides access to the wider AKIN network in accordance with the applicable AKIN Membership Terms & Conditions. 

4. Qualifying Stays 

Only eligible completed Direct Bookings with Drifter or AKIN count towards Runaway Club membership progression. 

For these Terms, a Direct Booking means an eligible accommodation booking made directly with Drifter through: 

  • the official Drifter website; 
  • directly with a participating Drifter property, where that booking can be verified and associated with the member’s account. 

A Direct Booking does not include a booking made through an online travel agency, third-party booking platform or other third-party distribution channel. 

Stays completed after joining 

Once enrolled, a completed stay will count towards Runaway Club membership progression where: 

  • it is a Direct or AKIN website Booking; 
  • it is associated with the member’s account; and 
  • the member completes the stay. 

Members should use the same email address for their Runaway Club account and their Direct Booking to support the correct matching of eligible stays. 

Recognition of previous stays 

When you first join Runaway Club, eligible stays completed within the previous 12 months will also count towards your membership progression, provided we can verify and match them to your account. 

Cancelled bookings, no-shows and incomplete stays do not count towards membership progression. 

5. Membership Progression 

Membership status and applicable membership periods are administered through AKIN in accordance with the AKIN Membership Terms & Conditions. 

Drifter may run promotions that recognise certain stays or activity differently for the purpose of membership progression. Any additional terms applying to a promotion will be communicated as part of the relevant offer. 

6. Runaway Club Benefits 

The benefits available through Runaway Club depend on your current membership tier. 

Unless expressly stated otherwise: 

  • benefits are personal to the member and non-transferable; 
  • benefits cannot be exchanged or redeemed for cash; 
  • the member must be staying at the participating Drifter property to receive stay-related benefits; 
  • benefits do not automatically extend to other guests included in the same booking; and 
  • benefits may be subject to availability and the operational requirements of the relevant Drifter property. 

7. Member Rates and Discounts 

Member rates and discounts are available through eligible Drifter direct booking channels and are subject to availability. 

Unless expressly stated otherwise, they cannot be combined with other promotions or offers. 

All bookings remain subject to the Drifter Terms & Conditions. 

8. Early Check-in, Late Check-out and Upgrades 

Where complimentary early check-in, late check-out or an accommodation upgrade forms part of your Runaway Club benefits, it will be provided without the usual applicable charge but remains subject to availability and confirmation by the relevant Drifter property. Availability may depend on occupancy, room or bed availability and operational requirements. 

9. Bookings for Multiple Guests, Beds or Rooms 

Runaway Club benefits are personal to the eligible member unless Drifter expressly states otherwise. 

Where a booking includes more than one guest, room or bed, membership benefits do not automatically apply separately to every guest included in that booking. 

A guest included in the booking who is also a Runaway Club member may be required to provide their own membership details to access benefits available through their membership. 

Any AKIN Points or other AKIN network rewards associated with a multi-guest, multi-bed or multi-room booking are subject to the applicable AKIN Membership Terms & Conditions. 

10. AKIN Points and Network Benefits 

As Runaway Club is powered by AKIN, members may also earn AKIN Points and access eligible benefits across participating properties within the wider AKIN network. 

AKIN Points, Travel Credit and benefits available through other AKIN partner properties are administered by AKIN and subject to the applicable AKIN Membership Terms & Conditions. 

The availability of AKIN Points, Travel Credit and wider network benefits may depend on the booking channel, participating property and conditions set out in the applicable AKIN terms. 

Runaway Club-specific benefits at Drifter properties are provided by Drifter. Benefits available at other properties within the AKIN network are provided and administered in accordance with the relevant AKIN and partner conditions.  

AKIN Membership Tier benefits applicable across the wider AKIN network do not apply at Drifter properties; benefits at Drifter properties are limited to those available under Runaway Club 

11. Cancellations, Amendments and No-shows 

The payment, amendment, cancellation and no-show conditions applying to your accommodation booking are governed by the conditions applicable to that booking, including the Drifter Terms & Conditions where relevant. 

Where an eligible Direct Booking is amended, the member rate, discount or benefit applying to the amended booking will be determined by the conditions applicable at the time of the amendment. 

Separate conditions may apply to AKIN Points, AKIN network benefits and Travel Credit. These matters are governed by the applicable AKIN Membership Terms & Conditions. 

12. Member Responsibilities and Misuse 

Members must use Runaway Club fairly and in accordance with these Terms. 

Drifter may take reasonable action in relation to a membership where it identifies or reasonably suspects fraud, misuse or manipulation of Runaway Club, including: 

  • creating or using duplicate accounts to obtain benefits improperly; 
  • providing false or misleading membership information; 
  • attempting to manipulate qualifying activity, membership status or benefits; 
  • claiming benefits on behalf of a person who is not eligible; 
  • transferring or attempting to sell benefits where transfer is not permitted; or 
  • otherwise fraudulently or improperly using the programme. 

Drifter may temporarily suspend a member’s participation while reasonably investigating suspected fraud, misuse or a material breach of these Terms. 

Drifter may cancel a member’s participation where, following reasonable investigation, Drifter determines that the member has engaged in fraud, deliberate misuse or a material breach of these Terms. 

Where reasonably practicable, Drifter will notify the member of a suspension or cancellation and provide information about its effect on Runaway Club-specific status and benefits. 

Any action taken will be subject to applicable law. The treatment of AKIN Points, Travel Credit or benefits provided through the wider AKIN network will be governed by the applicable AKIN terms. 

Bookings and stays at Drifter properties are also subject to the Drifter Terms & Conditions and applicable House Rules. 

13. Leaving Runaway Club 

You may leave Runaway Club at any time using the account cancellation options provided through the programme or by contacting the relevant support team. 

Leaving Runaway Club does not automatically close your AKIN account. If you also wish to close your AKIN account, this must be done separately in accordance with the applicable AKIN terms. 

Closing your AKIN account will also end your Runaway Club membership because Runaway Club requires an underlying AKIN membership.  

Any treatment of AKIN Points, Travel Credit or other benefits held within your AKIN account following account closure is governed by the applicable AKIN Membership Terms & Conditions. 

14. Changes to Runaway Club 

Drifter may update Runaway Club from time to time, including its: 

  • membership structure; 
  • qualification requirements; 
  • benefits; 
  • participating properties; 
  • eligible direct booking channels; and 
  • other programme features. 

Current programme information will be published on the Drifter Runaway Club page. 

Where a change materially affects a member’s existing Runaway Club benefits or membership status, Drifter will provide reasonable notice where practicable. 

Changes will apply from the effective date communicated or published by Drifter and will be subject to applicable law. 

Changes will not affect any consumer rights that cannot lawfully be excluded or modified. 

15. Suspension or Closure of Runaway Club 

Drifter may suspend or discontinue Runaway Club, in whole or in part, subject to applicable law and Drifter’s arrangements with AKIN. 

Where reasonably practicable, Drifter will provide members with reasonable notice of the suspension or closure and information about how existing Runaway Club-specific benefits and membership status will be treated. 

If Runaway Club ceases to operate, your AKIN membership does not automatically end. 

Any AKIN Points, Travel Credit or other benefits held within your AKIN membership will continue to be governed by the applicable AKIN terms.  

16. Privacy and Personal Information 

Drifter handles your personal information in accordance with the Drifter Privacy Policy. 

Runaway Club is powered by AKIN, which processes personal information associated with your membership and the operation of Runaway Club in accordance with the AKIN Privacy Policy. 

Information required to operate Runaway Club may be shared between Drifter and AKIN as described in the applicable privacy policies and programme terms. 

Marketing choices for Drifter and AKIN are managed separately. Consent to receive marketing from either organisation is optional and separate from your ability to join and participate in Runaway Club.  

You may update or withdraw your marketing preferences using the methods provided in the relevant communication, member platform or privacy policy. 

17. Relationship with Other Terms 

These Runaway Club Terms & Conditions apply specifically to your participation in Drifter Runaway Club. 

Your bookings, payments and stays at Drifter properties remain subject to the Drifter Terms & Conditions and any conditions disclosed when you make your booking. 

Your AKIN membership, including AKIN Points, Travel Credit and benefits available through the wider AKIN network, is governed by the applicable: 

These Runaway Club Terms supplement the applicable Drifter and AKIN terms. They do not replace the AKIN White-label Program Terms or AKIN Membership Terms. 

Where a matter concerns: 

  • a booking, payment, cancellation or stay at a Drifter property, the conditions disclosed for that booking and the Drifter Terms & Conditions apply; 
  • Runaway Club qualification, progression or Drifter-specific benefits, these Runaway Club Terms apply; and 
  • an AKIN account, AKIN Points, Travel Credit or benefits provided through the wider AKIN network, the applicable AKIN terms apply. 

Nothing in these Runaway Club Terms & Conditions excludes, restricts or modifies any right or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded, restricted or modified under applicable consumer law.
